Open Enrollment:  You’ve heard the term buzzing around your HR department, but you’re not paying it much attention. After all, you’re happy enough with your coverage. Why change anything now?

But not so fast! Open enrollment provides employees the opportunity to select different benefits for the upcoming year and A LOT can change in just 1 year!

Take the time to revisit your current plan and see if covers all your needs. Here are 3 things to consider:

1. Your Health

Our health can change as we get older, which may require more dental check-ups and cleanings. Examine your current health status and consider if you may need extra treatments in the future.

If you’re in good health, don’t ignore the importance of preventive care. Revisit your current plan to see if check-ups and cleanings are covered.

2. Your Family

Getting married and having kids entitles you to a special enrollment period. But if wedding bells and baby carriages are in your near future, consider changing your coverage now to account for your new dependents. If you have a dependent close to their 26th birthday, learn when they’ll need to find an independent plan.

3. Your Budget

Figure out the minimum and maximum monthly premium you can afford with your current budget.

Pro Tip: Make sure your current plan covers preventive care, as regular check ups and cleanings can save you money in the long run.
