BENTONVILLE, ARK.—Kids afraid of the dentist might learn to put their fears aside by attending Toothapalooza at the Amazeum on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

The community oral health event offers free dental screenings, fluoride varnish treatments and take-home dental hygiene kits for children under 18 and fun educational oral health activities for the whole family. Parents of children participating in the dental screenings will receive recommendations for any necessary follow-up treatments.

Admission to the Amazeum is free for the first 500 visitors who mention “Toothapalooza” upon check-in and participate in the dental screenings, courtesy of event sponsor Delta Dental of Arkansas. Toothapalooza hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Amazeum is located at 1009 Museum Way in Bentonville.

“Painful tooth decay ranks among the top chronic childhood diseases and is one of the main reasons kids miss school or can’t concentrate in class,” said Elizabeth Jones, director of Delta Dental Smiles at Delta Dental of Arkansas. “Yet cavities are almost entirely preventable with daily brushing and flossing and preventive care dentist visits. We host Toothapalooza to promote good oral health and present dental visits as positive experiences.”

Toothapalooza is an annual event sponsored by Delta Dental of Arkansas, often in connection with National Children’s Oral Health Month in February or National Oral Health Month in June. Previous events have been held in partnership with three science museums across the state: the Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville, the Museum of Discovery in Little Rock, and the Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs. It aims to educate Arkansas families about the importance of oral hygiene and share resources for those without dental insurance.
